The DREAMS™ Project:

DREAMS (Disaster Relief and Emergency Medical Services) is a $34 million project sponsored by Congressional funding through the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) and U. S. Army Material Command (MRMC).

The Digital Ambulance effort was funded with allocations of $14 million resulting in the most highly advanced, tested, and used EMS telemedicine system in the world. more…

Gen. Maxwell R. Thurman Award:

Two physicians have received the distinguished General Maxwell Thurman Award for their participation in the design of the DREAMS military telemedicine system. This includes Dr. S. Ward Cassells, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs) and famed surgeon Dr. James ‘Red’ Duke, Jr.

The award is given at annual meetings of the American Telemedicine Association in recognition of someone who exhibits the qualities of a natural born leader, an innovator, a champion of the soldier, and a pioneer of the advancement of technology.
